Murmansk has a lot of sightseeing to offer. Every traveler will find something of interest here and outdoor activities are not an exception. An experienced traveler fond of outdoor activities might ask: «What can skiers enjoy in this beautiful snowy land?» and will receive an exhaustive answer. It is here, north of the Arctic Circle that spans a picturesque ski resort «BigWood».

BigWood is the highest mountain resort in the northwestern part of Russia. This ski complex is located on the southern slope of Mount Aikuaivenchorr. Diverse slopes, both complex and amateur, will fascinate skiers of any levels.

It is worth mentioning that the Ski complex is constantly developing, making the conditions to indulge in such beautiful sport better and better.

In 2020, an Italian company TechnoAlpin, the manufacturer of artificial snow making systems and the world leader in snowmaking industry, was brought into picture to modernize the equipment and improve the quality of provided services.

In cooperation with «Alp-Project» project organization, there was developed a complex system of new pipelines, 7460 meters long. The technological network will cast its lines along the ski slopes, escaping underground from inquiring guests.

Four hundred and eighty cubic metres of water per hour will be delivered to unique TechnoAlpin snow generators by high-performance pumps. Due to these devices, we can witness the process of artificial snow creation. Thirty-two automatic stationary fan guns atop the masts of 3.5 meters high will overlook the mountain scene like yellow herons. They will be integrated along the ski slopes, awaiting water and air in the majestic and grand manner. For additional support, 12 TF10 snow generators on a 12-metre-long bearing console will be installed alongside, making for optimum and timely snowmaking.

We can say for certain, that due to such fundamental reconstruction «BigWood» ski resort will be on par with the world’s most renown winter resorts.
